Happy Hellos!

My name is Anna and I'm a Pole living recently in Airdrie (near Calgary in Canada), hopeless in love with paper. Usually sitting in my studio between 8pm and midnight, if my energy lasts that long after another day with a toddler Jakob and a baby Lisa. I love to share my crafts with you, please be my guest!

``celebrate SNOW``

Happy hellos,

I am back at the end of the year with this gorgeous mood board from Scrap Around the World. Seeing the work of the design team and the winners, one just have to scrap with them along! very inspiring! I couldn't`t resist to use the colors: my fave combo turquoise-red-and beige!

Of course a lot of gesso, spraying etc.
This pic was taken by -25 degrees C in Alberta, where we recently move from South Africa. Imagine the shocker! Kids adjusted in no time to the cold, but we grown-up still working on it!

Thanks for taking look at my ``celebrate SNOW`. I appreciate every warm word to this snowy layout!

Christmas card... inspired by Runway Inspired Challenge

Hello,
you won't see anything else on my blog until December but Christmas cards. This time inspired by Runway Inspired Challenge no.71 (in memory of Oscar de la Renta). I had a hard time to choose a dress for inspiration, because each one is just gorgeous. Pity, none of them can be a part of my wardrobe ;0)

Adieu Sketchabilities!

Happy hellos,

today is my last post for Sketchabilities for me as a design member. The term May-July is over, can you believe it? I am so thankful Karan Gerber, the owner of Sketchabilities for this opportunity. It lifted my spirits and my mojo!

Please take a look at my layout, inspired by Finnabair, who I have met lately in person here in Alberta. I am hooked on mix media, that's for sure!

The sketch from Sketchabilities was perfect again ! I can work with them so smoothly... it just flows.... never got stuck! I even recommended the blog to my friend who is brand new in the scrapbooking world. I am sure, we will see her work at the Sketchabilities challenge blog pretty soon!

On the picture is my son with a robotics at my work. One of our academics is specializing in robotics and I asked him, if my son can visit the robot. He agreed and Jakob could meet Optimus Prime (he called him after the Transformer). His eyes were glowing and were full of fascination. I love to see my kid like that! I made the layout on canvas, so we can hang this in his room.

Double challenge: Once upon the...sketch & Scrap around the world

Hello fellow scrapbookers and other nice people,

before  I sit down and start my Xmas cards marathon (already paid for a  table at the local XMas market, I want to play some challenges, that cause the itchiness of my crafty/inky fingers.

I combined two challenges: Once Upon the.... Sketch and Scrap Around the World:

At the Once Upon the Sketch challenge we are supposed to use numbers: I chose "two sweet years" and the journaling is in the right corner between the line of the journaling from the Webster Pages design paper. Mu message to Lisa: "You are perfect just as you are, never forget to love yourself."

At the Scrap Around the World I was inspired by the colors, which matches the ice cream cone of my girl and turquious is anyway MY color right now. Also the Webster pages are just perfect to Victorian (?) style of the lamp and drawers on the first picture on the mood board. My interpretation of the words on the mood  board is: "love yourself" as a message to my daughter.

Thanks for your visit, see you soon!

Winter in July-Sketchabilities no.119

Happy summer hellos,

this time a layout for you with a winter picture, despite almost 30 degrees Celsius here in Alberta. I used a chipboard from Creative Embellishments around my picture, which I love to work with. I used a lot of glitter, which is out of my comfort zone. But I thought about the temperature on the day, the picture was taken, it was juicy minus 30 degrees. The snow was very shiny  on this day in the winter sun.
"Dream".....the figure ice skating was always my dream.....

The beautiful sketch no 119 from Sketchabilities, that is versatile to interpret...Just try it!

Skechtabilities #118: Born to build

Happy hellos,

This layout is prepared for the sketch reveal #118 for Sketchabilities with a fabulous chipboard from generous Creative Embellishments: steampunk hot air baloon. It's a big element, but so much fun to work with.

To be honest: when I started to make this layout, I made a mistake: I touched with inky finger the picture of my son and there was an ugly stain.... What to do? I decided to cut out his shape of his body and work with this...and I am very pleased with the end-effect. I never did it before and I liked it! So maybe in the future I will use this technique again!

Followed the sketch #118:

I really hope, you are tempted to play with Sketchabilities!  Our team would love to see your take on the sketch!

You and me-Sketchabilities no 116.

Hello bloggers,

today I am coming with another great sketch from Sketchabilities no.116. I went big this time, which means: I never scrapbooked such big picture before. But there is always the first time, right? I hope, you will get itchy fingers and play along with us!
Don't forget to see the interpretation of other design members, who just rocked this challenge!

This picture was taken when my son Jakob saw the first time his little sister Lisa. I can see in his eyes the pride and joy and on her face a smile, although she was few hours old.

Design Team member AGAIN - Sketchabilities

Happy hellos,

As you can see in the title of my post: I was chosen for a Design Team member for Sketchabilities, a blog who always rocks! It has been a while, I was last time on a design team, so I am very pleased to have this honor again. Perfect timing!

This month Karan came up with this sketch: how cool is that. When I saw the sketch the first time, I got itchy fingers. At 8:00 pm my kids were in bed and 8:05 pm I was already creating!

Below you can see the effect of my fruitful evening:

Don't miss to check the art work of other Design Team members! Honestly I am still in shock, that I am allowed to put my work next to theirs! I feel like VIP being Sketchabilities design team member!

Scrap & Music on canvas

Hello,

I found the blog Scrap & Music through an amazing scrap-fellow from South Africa. I never played with this challenge, but this month the perfect sketch and perfect song tempted me to do so. The 3 picture of my son, who loves to play pretending (you should hear him talking like a mad cop!) and the words in the song "Who I am" +the pics show the exact picture of Jakob.

Marysia- gone too soon....

....I planned this layout years ago, but somehow didn't manage to do that..... The layout has a picture of very special person, my cousin, who left us much too soon, 13 years ago... She wasn't even 20 years old....
Marysia was a gentle, funny person. People like to have her around. She was the youngest of all of us seven cousins. After I left Poland, she was always in touch with me via snail mail. That was very supportive in the first immigration years for me.
She was very caring ~ she loved feathers ~ she wrote beautiful poetry... I so wish to be able to spend more time with her....

I was inspired by the quote from the challenge Once upon the sketch: "You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough". Journaling: a personal letter on the back of the page....

Thanks for your warm words,

Unique...my little Lisa....

Hello again,

this time I am presenting you a layout with my little girl (almost 3 years old!), made for the challenge: Skechtabilities #109. The colors come from the Color Sketch #22 of ScrapFriends Challenge blog, which I visit lately very often. The combo brown plus blue is just magic for me, not just for boys as you can see above.

Yesterday I came across variety of washi tape in $1 store: 3 Pack for $1! You can only imagine how banana I went! You can see on the layout my new product..... Love it!
